We’re
Villa Triptih
While you are staying in Villa Triptih, you will doubtless find yourself wondering about the history of this lovely Adriatic lodging.
In 1960, Croatian professor and historian Miroslav Brandt commissioned well-known architect Kazimir Ostrogovic to build him a stone villa in Vrboska on the island of Hvar to serve as his summer residence.
Ostrogovic already had many claims to fame; previously he had designed the Zagreb town hall as well as the Croatian president’s headquarters, Villa Zagorje.
While staying in his stone villa, Professor Brandt penned the novel “Triptih,” which explored the factors driving the fall of Bolshevism.
The present owner of the home acquired it in 1996. As an admirer of traditional Dalmatian architecture, he insisted that the refurbishment of the stone lodging follow that traditional style.
Following eight years of intense planning, he launched a collaboration with the acclaimed Croatian architect Oskar Fleischer. Fleischer immediately and intuitively understood the owner’s ideas and incorporated those wishes into today’s villa. That is why the modern villa retains its iconic historical identity, even amid contemporary flourishes and comforts.
In honour of the original owner, Professor Brandt, the lodging was then renamed “Villa Triptih.”
